Education

BA (Hons) in Illustration for Commercial Application | Northern School of Art

2019 - 2022

I recently graduated after spending three years at the course 'Illustration for Commercial Application' at the Northern School of Art. During this time I learnt a wide variety of industry skills and more in order to become an industry ready Illustrator. This involved using a wide variety of techniques and programs (such as Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign), all while working to learn our audience and how to advertise efficiently to a market. Despite learning so many techniques over three years, I was also taught and encouraged to find my own style in order to make myself the best artist I can be for the industry I'm aiming for.

BTEC Extended Diploma in Interactive Media | Cleveland College of Art & Design

2017 - 2019

Interactive Media taught me a lot about digital mediums and how we as artists can us our art to interact with an audience. The two years I spent studying here helped me learn programs I had never used before (such as Blender and Premiere Pro), it also taught me how to look at my work in a 3D structure despite it being 2D. This was mostly done in my animation units where I created my own animation reel for a live brief set by the Mental Health charity 'Mind'.

The Hoe-tic Edda | Live Brief

2021 - 2022

For the past year I have worked on a personal project that involved me setting myself to industry standards in order to emulate a brief an actual client would give me. While the client in this case was myself, I still conceptualised and created a twenty page zine that was made specifically with the intent of my audience and selling to that audience. This project took a fair few twists and turns within its creation, all while furthering my understanding of the industry standards and why those standards are put in place. Overall I've thoroughly enjoyed this project and its helped to further my understanding of the career I wish to go in to.
